How to join

Current vacancies
We currently have vacancies for principal horn and timpanist. Anyone interested should contact Pat Dobson on 0116 267 7372 or e-mail the orchestra at leicesterso@hotmail.com.

Join the orchestra
The Leicester Symphony Orchestra is made up of about 80 musicians of all ages. New players of a good standard are invited to join where there is a vacancy. In particular we would be very interested to hear from violin and double bass players. Subscriptions cost £65 per year, or £50 for the unwaged. An extensive repertoire of 19th and 20th century symphonic music is performed. Rehearsals usually take place at Mayflower Church Hall, Ethel Road, Leicester, and there are usually six leading up to a concert, on Sunday afternoons (2.15 to 5pm) and Monday evenings (7.30 to 10pm). Further details are available from Pat Dobson, 69 Greengate Lane, Birstall, Leicester LE4 3JG, Tel: 0116 267 7372.

Become a friend
The Friends of the Leicester Symphony Orchestra is a scheme whereby anyone can help the orchestra by making a minimum donation of £10 (individual) or £15 (joint) per season in addition to any tickets purchased. Friends will be acknowledged in the concert programmes and be entitled to use of the private bar in the Garden Suite at De Montfort Hall concerts. Further details are available from Liz Gotts, 32 St. Catharines Way, Houghton-on-the-Hill, Leicester, LE7 9HE, Tel: 0116 241 8384.

Become a patron
The LSO patronage scheme was formed in April 1991 with the Lord Mayor of Leicester as the president. Membership of the scheme is open to corporations for a minimum subscription of £150. Patrons receive two tickets of their choice for each of the De Montfort Hall concerts and can purchase additional tickets at half price. They will also be acknowledged in the concert programmes and be entitled to use of the private bar in the Garden Suite at De Montfort Hall concerts. Further details are available from Sam Dobson, 69 Greengate Lane, Birstall, Leicester LE4 3JG, Tel: 0116 267 7372.
